Privacy Policy

Hockey Or Die ("HOD", "we") is an independent hockey fan website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the NHL, any club, Google or YouTube.

Visitors do not need to create an account or sign in to use the website. The only sign-in on the site is a private administration area used by the site operator.

We run our own basic, first-party traffic measurement. For each page you view we record:

• the page address you opened and the time of the visit;
• the website that referred you, if you arrived from another site (the site name only);
• whether you are using a mobile or desktop device;
• how long the page was visible on your screen;
• an approximate location (country, region and city) supplied by our hosting network from your connection — we do not store your IP address;
• randomly generated identifiers for your browser and browsing session, so we can count visits and returning visitors. These identifiers are not linked to your name or contact details.

We use your browser's local storage and session storage to remember your selected and saved teams, your display preferences, and the visit identifiers described above. This information stays in your browser except for the identifiers sent with traffic measurement. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Cookies are used only for restricted preview access and for the administration sign-in. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

When you submit a question to Ask HOD, the text of your question is sent to an AI service provider so an answer can be written. Please do not include personal information in your questions. We keep a record of the type of question asked and whether the answer could be verified, to monitor quality.

Hockey Or Die uses the YouTube Data API to identify publicly available NHL highlight videos published on the official NHL YouTube channel, and to show those highlights on individual team pages. We store only public video details such as the video ID, title, thumbnail and the game it relates to. We do not access or store any information about your YouTube or Google account.

The video player loads only when you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode. Once loaded, the embedded player is operated by YouTube and may collect data or use cookies under Google's and YouTube's own policies. See the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.

• Our website hosting and database provider, which stores traffic records and serves the site.
• Our hosting network, which provides approximate location from your connection.
• An AI service provider, which receives Ask HOD question text to produce answers.
• Google Fonts, which delivers the site's fonts and receives standard request information such as your IP address.
• YouTube (Google), when you choose to play a highlight video.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We use traffic information only to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and for how long, so we can improve the site. We do not build advertising profiles.

We have not yet set a fixed deletion schedule for traffic records. Saved team selections and preferences remain in your browser until you clear them.

Traffic records can be read only through the private administration area. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can clear your browser storage at any time, which removes your saved teams, preferences and visit identifiers. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to or deletion of information about you. Because our traffic records are not linked to names, we may need your browser's visit identifier to locate them.

The website is a general-audience hockey site and does not knowingly collect information from children.
